ERA-01 from $150
Electromechanical 8 Channel SPDT Relay Output Accessory Board
For DASCON-1 and PIO-12
The 8 channel electromechanical SPDT relay output accessory board ERA-01 is designed to be operated by the DASCON-01 and PIO-12 interface boards. Providing 8 form C relays driven by the "PB" port of the plug in board, the relays can be used for general switching purposes, extending the number of analog inputs, settings up test configurations, power switching etc. The N.O. (normally open-de-energized) N.C. (normally closed-de-energized) and C (common) connections to each of the relay contacts are brought out to a connector strip. A red LED adjacent to each relay lights up when the relays is energized and a logic high on the appropriate PB output energizes the relay. Each relay on the board consumes about 95 mA when energized, so with all relays active the board consumes about 760 mA from the power buss. The main DASCON-01 board consumes 400 mA, so the combination can takes as much as 1.16 A. The standard IBM PC has a power budget of 4 amps at +5V for the expansion slots. To preclude excessive power consumption in this configuration, provision has been made on the electromechanical relay board to operate from an external power adapter (OPA-01) if required.
